Uttam Kumar Urges Swift Completion of Sundilla Barrage Restoration Work

The Irrigation Minister, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, visited the Sundilla Barrage in Manthani mandal to check on the restoration work being done. He instructed engineering officers and contracting agencies to complete the work quickly.

The Minister emphasized the need to follow the instructions of the National Dam Safety Authority and ensure that repair and restoration work is done promptly. He asked for a clear schedule of when the work will be completed.

During the visit, the Minister also asked for an assessment of the damage caused to local people by construction near the Sundilla barrage. Project ENC Anil Kumar provided details about the work being done to protect the three barrages during the upcoming monsoon season.

Measures are being taken to restore the Sundilla Barrage, including tests on washed away sand. The Minister ordered that the work be accelerated and completed within ten days. He mentioned that previous governments had neglected repairs on collapsed barrages.

Additionally, the Minister spoke about a judicial commission set up to examine irregularities in the Kaleswaram project. He promised the construction of a barrage at Tummidihatti. During his visit to the Annaram Barrage, he highlighted concerns about the safety of several barrages in the area.
