    Khammam: The crops falling under Somavaram Minor ayacut are wilting owed atrocious Warabandi system of distribution of HO to the fields in the territory.

    Hoping righteous returns, the farmers started cultivation of maize and paddy with lively interest in Yasangi time of year this year. But their expectancies were dashed because of the implementation of the system of Warabandi ( rotational HO amount of something available for use to a fixed ).

    Rythu Sangam territory secretarial assistant Bonthu Ram Babu said 50 farmers suffered large losses owed to the decision of the officials to implement the Warabandi system” under the Somavaramu ayacut.

    The Somavaram ayacut is under the belonging to the political or intellectual left canal of the NSP task, he added. The government implemented the system on December 15 in 2022 and the same system has been continuing to appointment.

    He said, every year it has been implementing the system, but this year the farmers started acreage of paddy and maize under the ayacut.

    He said the Somavaram ayacut under the canal is around 7 km. Due to implementing the system HO could attain upto only 4 kms.

    The fields under the remaining 3 km canal were damaged owed to want of HO, he said. The crops have got dried up and are not of any role, he added.

    He appealed to the government to pose aside the system and lay aside their fields.

    Rao demanded that NSP Engineers loosen up the system of Warabandi and shield from danger the farmers from incurring large losses.

    A renter Tata Rama Rao informed that he cultivated maize on a rented playing field and spent Rs 60,000. The entire cut short dried up owed to want of HO and he spiritually or physically doomed or destroyed all his investment funds. He sought recompense from the government.

    Speaking on the important question, Chief Engineer Shanker Naik said that the system has been in grade for the final many years. However, the Irrigation department is observing the state of affairs and planning to cave in easiness to cave in ease to farmers, he added.

    He said the farmers who are using more HO under the system are also obstructing the flow of the HO and it is not reaching to the close canal. Under the canal around 2,000 acres are being cultivated, CE informed.

    Assistant Engineer (AE) Hari Krishna informed, owed to canal repair the HO did not perish to the close of the canal. Under the system of Warabandi, the government gives HO as per , he added.
