A horrific incident took place in the Narasampet Mandal of Warangal district, where a father brutally attacked his daughter for attempting to marry a boy of her choice. The father, enraged by his daughter’s decision to marry against his wishes, assaulted her with a petrol can. This shocking incident occurred in the village of Itukalapalli.
The victim, identified as Kavya Sri, hails from the same village as her lover, Srinivas Kumar. The couple had been in a relationship for the past two years. Kavya Sri’s parents were made aware of their relationship about a year ago. However, instead of accepting their daughter’s choice, they warned her against continuing the relationship. Kavya Sri joined an engineering college in Hanamkonda and began staying in the hostel there, but she maintained contact with Srinivas Kumar.
Frustrated by the opposition from her parents, Kavya Sri decided to marry Srinivas Kumar without their consent. On the 30th of last month, she met him in Hyderabad and they eloped. When her parents found out about their elopement, they immediately filed a complaint at the Hasanparthy police station. However, before the police could take any action, Kavya Sri and Srinivas Kumar got married at the Chilkur Balaji temple on the 4th of this month.
On the same day, at around 10 pm, Kavya Sri’s father went to the Hasanparthy police station and requested protection for himself and his family. He also requested counseling for his daughter to convince her to return home. However, when Kavya Sri’s parents went back to their village from the police station, they found that their daughter had already left. In a fit of rage, her father destroyed the furniture in their house and set it on fire using petrol.
Not only did Kavya Sri’s father assault her, but he also attacked his own family members who had supported his daughter’s decision. Kavya Sri’s friends Rakesh, Vijay, and Praveen Indla also joined in destroying their belongings. The police registered a case against the ten individuals involved, including Kavya Sri’s father, and arrested them. The incident has left the community in shock and raises questions about the importance of consent and individual choices in relationships.
