Rajasthan Royals beat Kolkata Knight Riders by nine wickets in the Indian Premier League with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring an unbeaten 98 from just 47 balls. Jaiswal hit 13 fours and five sixes and scored the fastest IPL fifty by an Indian player. He lost his opening partner, Jos Buttler, in the second over but kept up his aggressive approach. Rajasthan Royals reached their target of 150 with 41 balls to spare, moving into contention for a top-four spot in the points table.

Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket captain, praised Jaiswal’s innings on his Instagram story, saying: “Wow, this is some of the best batting I have seen in a while. What a talent @yashasvijaiswal28.” Jaiswal is one of three players to have scored a century in IPL 2023, alongside KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Harry Brook. After the match, Jaiswal said he was happy to have contributed to the win and wanted to keep finishing games for his team.
