The Pakistan army is investigating its own military officers who were allegedly involved in the violence that followed former prime minister Imran Khan’s arrest in a corruption case in Islamabad. The army officials were accused of helping and facilitating PTI protesters and revealing the locations of army installations, including the Army headquarters and Corps Commander House in Lahore. Sources have revealed that 23 serving officers have been taken into custody for interrogation. A joint team of Military Intelligence and Inter Services Intelligence has been formed to investigate. The government has cracked down on Khan’s supporters since the violence, arresting thousands of people and threatening trials before military courts.
