In Wanaparthy, officials carried out a raid on Tuesday targeting shops within the Pebbair municipality due to the use of banned plastic. This operation led to inspections at various stores, resulting in fines totaling Rs 9,200 for those found using plastic bags.

Municipal Commissioner Ashok Reddy advised all shopkeepers in the area to adopt cloth bags or biodegradable alternatives instead of prohibited plastic. He cautioned that those who continue to violate the ban could face not only fines but also severe legal consequences.

The drive saw participation from Environmental Engineer Yogesh Kumar, Jawan Raju, and municipal staff members including Krishna, Sai, Tirupati, Nagaraju, Satish, Sudhakar, Ayub, and Kurumurthy.
