The Universities Teachers’ Association in Telangana is asking the Chief Minister to regularize the services of contract teachers, specifically assistant professors working in 12 state universities. The association is asking for this to be done as promised by the Chief Minister and in accordance with GO 16 of February 26, 2016. They are also asking for the same treatment as degree and polytechnic lecturers who have already had their services regularized.

The contract teachers are asking for their services to be regularized as they are already working against budget-sanctioned vacant posts and possess all necessary qualifications. They are assuring the government that there will be no legal issues and that many other states have already regularized the services of contract and part-time university teachers.
