Hans Marathon Aims to Generate Hope through Action

On World Suicide Prevention Day, Hans India is creating a platform to raise awareness about the urgent need to come together and promote preventive measures to reduce suicides. India has the 41st highest suicide rate globally, with over 35 students ending their lives every day. In 2021, there were around 1,300 reported suicides in the two Telugu states.

As a socially responsible media house, Hans India has been organizing the Hyderabad Marathon since 2018. Now, they are using this platform to spread the message that life is precious and suicide is never a solution. They have published over 20 special articles by renowned psychiatrists and psychologists on maintaining mental health and preventing suicidal tendencies.

On World Suicide Prevention Day, Hans India is making an effort to draw society’s attention to this important public health issue. Over 5,000 runners will participate in the full marathon to encourage and instill confidence among people and convey the message that there are alternatives to make life successful.

The HANS Hyderabad Marathon starts at the Tank Bund with a view of Dr Ambedkar’s statue. The race begins at 5 am and takes runners from Hussainsagar lake to the cable bridge at Durgam Cheruvu, ending at Ganti Mohana Chandra Balayogi Athletics Stadium (Gachibowli stadium). The two fastest men and women racers will be honored, along with the fastest racers in the age groups of 12 years, 60+ years, and differently-challenged individuals.
