Gadwal: Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Aija town protested the poor state of public health facilities by throwing fishing nets into stagnant rainwater at the Primary Health Centre (PHC). Kompati Bhagat Reddy, the BJP Aija Town President, led the event, joined by several senior party figures.

S. Ramachandra Reddy, a former BJP President of Jogulamba Gadwal District, visited the PHC and voiced his frustration over the unsanitary and hazardous conditions. He noted the difficulties faced by patients, including pregnant women and the elderly, due to the waterlogged entrance. He also criticized the government for not completing a 30-bed hospital project that has been stalled for 36 months.

Despite numerous protests and appeals to the District Collector and District Medical & Health Officer, the problem persists, Reddy explained. The stagnant water is breeding mosquitoes, raising the risk of malaria and dengue, while contaminated water threatens to spread typhoid, diarrhea, and other illnesses.

The waterlogged hospital grounds deter patients who fear for their safety. The unsanitary conditions encourage bacteria and viruses, turning the area into a potential disease hub. Medical staff face difficulties reaching the hospital on time due to the disruptions.

Reddy identified several causes for the issue: the absence of cement concrete roads, poor drainage systems, lack of regular maintenance, inadequate planning, insufficient government funding, and mismanagement of available resources.

The BJP leader warned that such negligence is diminishing public trust in rural government healthcare, leading to more protests. He urged the Panchayat and hospital authorities to ensure cleanliness and take swift action to drain water during heavy rains to avoid inconvenience to patients.

The protest saw participation from BJP Aija Mandal President Gopalakrishna, SC Morcha State Executive Member Madanna, OBC Morcha District Executive Members Vadla Veerayya Chari and Lakshmachari, Aija Town Vice-President Laxman Goud, and local leaders Narasimhulu, Raghu, Rajasekhar, among others.
