Hyderabad celebrated World Lion Day at the Nehru Zoological Park to raise awareness about lions and their conservation. The zoo organized various fun activities like puzzles and crosswords at the Asiatic and African Lion Enclosures.
Around 374 students took part in these activities. An informative session was held where an animal keeper shared insights into lions’ behavior and lifespan. Ch M Deepak Tarun supervised, and visitors interacted with the keepers to learn more about lions.
Dr. P. Srinivas, the Assistant Director, discussed the health care and upkeep of the lions at the zoo. Nazia Thabassum, AC-1, highlighted the significance of celebrating Lion Day. B. Laxman, AC-3, proudly stated that Hyderabad Zoo houses pure breed Asiatic lions, making it the only zoo in India with this distinction.
