Hyderabad has seen steady water flow into its Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs. This happened after light rains in the surrounding areas started on Saturday morning, prompting officials to slightly open the reservoir gates.

By 6 AM on Sunday, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) reported that Osman Sagar held water at a level of 1,783.45 feet. The reservoir contained 2.578 tmcft of water, close to its maximum capacity of 1,790 feet (3,900 tmcft). Water was flowing into the lake at 150 cusecs, but no gates had been opened to release it.

Himayat Sagar had water levels at 1,760.30 feet, with a capacity of 2.660 tmcft, compared to its full capacity of 1,763.50 feet (2.970 tmcft). The inflow here was 200 cusecs, and one gate was open, releasing 991 cusecs downstream.

HMWSSB officials stated that the water levels are in a stable range. Opening the gate at Himayat Sagar is a routine measure to ensure safety. Both reservoirs are monitored closely, and people living downstream are advised to be careful near canal banks due to the water being released.
