Hyderabad has introduced India’s first Culinary and Experiential Tourism Accelerator. This project, a partnership between the Government of Telangana and The Culinary Lounge, aims to tap into the growing global culinary tourism market, valued at $1 trillion. Unveiled during The August Fest, the initiative seeks to support entrepreneurs focused on reviving traditions, sustainable practices, technology, and preserving heritage.
The Culinary Lounge, in collaboration with the Telangana Innovation Cell (TGIC) and the Network of Indian Cultural Enterprises (NICE), will provide startups with mentorship, resources, market access, funding, and strategies for regional growth.
“This initiative redefines food as a key part of innovation,” said Gopi Byluppala, Founder & CEO of The Culinary Lounge.
Meraj Faheem, CEO of TGIC, shared plans to merge the accelerator with the state’s innovation framework. This includes a fellowship program with Hyderabad Central University.
A discussion between actress-playwright Jhansi Laxmi and Byluppala emphasized the connection between food, language, textiles, and heritage. Plans for a “Culinary & Cultural Passport” in Telangana, featuring sites like Ramappa Temple and traditional foods like Sakinalu, were also announced.
