The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) is dedicated to nurturing young cricket talent in rural areas. On Sunday, they revealed a new plan to set up 10 Centres of Excellence throughout Telangana.
Dharam Guruva Reddy, the Association’s General Secretary, shared this vision during a cricketers’ gathering in Warangal. These centers will offer top-notch facilities and coaching, providing a strong start for aspiring players. Reddy praised TCA’s efforts in giving rural youth a chance to showcase their skills and gain recognition from senior cricket officials. The meeting attendees, including officials and players, unanimously supported this initiative.
Reddy insisted that TCA deserves full membership in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), rather than just a partnership with the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). He urged political groups and public figures to unite and support TCA’s quest for BCCI approval.
Continuing their criticism of the “corrupt” HCA, Reddy highlighted HCA’s failure to follow BCCI’s collaboration orders from July 2021. Talks between HCA and TCA on March 29, as directed by the Bombay High Court, remain unresolved, showing HCA’s lack of commitment to cricket development in Telangana.
The event was organized by TCA state treasurer Dr. P Vijay Chander Reddy and coordinated by T Jayapal, the secretary of the Warangal district unit. Attendees included Dr. Ponnala Jagan, Samee, Md Zakir Hussain, Stephen, Sharath Yadav, Md Mohin, Kaluvala Shiva, Bhaskar, Navarasan, Shashank, and several senior cricketers.
