Hyderabad, November 24, 2025 – Residents and commuters in Rethibowli and Nanal Nagar areas are facing severe traffic disruptions due to expos and large-scale events being organized at function halls in Gudimalkapur without proper parking facilities and traffic management plans.
Saturday’s Traffic Nightmare
On Saturday, November 22, massive traffic jams were reported at Nanal Nagar and Rethibowli due to an expo organized at a function hall in Gudimalkapur. The event attracted huge crowds, with vehicles parking on roads and side streets, bringing traffic to a standstill for hours.
Commuters reported being stuck in gridlock, with what should have been 10-minute journeys taking over an hour. Emergency vehicles also faced difficulties navigating through the congested areas.
Function Halls Without Parking Infrastructure
The primary issue is that several function halls in Gudimalkapur are operating and hosting large-scale events without adequate parking facilities. When expos and exhibitions attract hundreds or thousands of visitors, attendees have no choice but to park on public roads, creating chaos in surrounding areas.
“These function halls are organizing massive events that bring in thousands of people, but there’s nowhere for them to park. The entire area becomes a parking lot, and regular traffic comes to a complete halt,” complained Rajesh Kumar, a daily commuter through the area.
Nanal Nagar: A Known Traffic Bottleneck
What makes the situation worse is that Nanal Nagar traffic has already become one of the major issues in Hyderabad. The junction and surrounding roads struggle to handle regular daily traffic, and adding expo-related congestion has made the situation unbearable.
Local residents have been complaining about Nanal Nagar traffic problems for months, and the additional burden of event-related traffic has pushed the infrastructure beyond its capacity.
Questions Over Police Permission
Citizens and area residents are questioning how organizers obtained police permission to conduct such large-scale events without demonstrating adequate parking arrangements and traffic management plans.
“Despite knowing that Nanal Nagar traffic is a major problem, how are these permits being issued? Where is the traffic impact assessment? Who is ensuring that organizers have proper facilities?” asked Mohammed Rehan, a Rethibowli resident.
Standard operating procedures for large events typically require organizers to demonstrate:
- Adequate parking facilities
- Traffic management plans
- Crowd control measures
- Emergency vehicle access
- Impact on surrounding areas
With Gudimalkapur function halls continuing to host expos and exhibitions, immediate intervention is needed to prevent recurring traffic nightmares in Rethibowli and Nanal Nagar.
Citizens hope that authorities will take swift action to either ensure proper infrastructure at event venues or stop issuing permissions until adequate facilities are in place.
Until then, weekend traffic chaos in these areas appears set to continue, testing the patience of Hyderabad’s commuters and residents.
