Widespread Heavy Rain Lashes Hyderabad; Begumpet, Bowenpally Record Over 85mm Rainfall

Hyderabad witnessed intense early morning rainfall on September 14, 2026, with several areas recording heavy downpours that disrupted normal life across the city. The Telangana Weatherman reported widespread serious rainfall that lashed various parts of the state capital, with some localities receiving close to 100 millimeters of precipitation.

The Begumpet IMD Office recorded the highest rainfall at 95.5 millimeters, followed closely by Bowenpally with 87 millimeters. Other severely affected areas included Maredpally with 72.5 millimeters, Alwal with 70.8 millimeters, and Bansilalpet with 68.8 millimeters. The northern parts of the city appeared to bear the brunt of the downpour during the early morning hours.

Central areas of Hyderabad also experienced significant rainfall. Secunderabad recorded 65.5 millimeters, while Khairthabad received 57 millimeters. Kukatpally recorded 55.8 millimeters, and Musheerabad saw 54.3 millimeters of rain. Areas like Tarnaka, Kapra, and Osmania University each recorded 53.5 to 53.8 millimeters of precipitation.

The western and southern parts of the city received comparatively lower amounts of rainfall. Gachibowli recorded 37 millimeters, while Madhapur received 30.3 millimeters. Charminar area recorded 25.8 millimeters, and Rajendranagar received just 11 millimeters. The airport area of Shamshabad recorded the lowest rainfall in the city at 6.8 millimeters.

Several other prominent areas reported moderate to heavy rainfall. Banjara Hills and Moosapet both recorded 45.8 millimeters, while Ameerpet received 37.5 millimeters. LB Stadium area recorded 38.8 millimeters, and Mehidipatnam saw 38.5 millimeters of rain. The rainfall data covered over 80 locations across the city, providing a comprehensive picture of the weather event that impacted the capital.
