Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar recently visited the office and residence of billionaire Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad. The visit came after Pawar and Adani inaugurated a factory in Sanand, Ahmedabad. It is unclear what was discussed during their meeting. This is not the first time Pawar and Adani have interacted. Adani had previously visited Pawar’s residence in Mumbai, and Pawar had shown his support for Adani amidst allegations made by US short seller Hindenburg. Pawar had suggested a Supreme Court committee to investigate the allegations against Adani.
The relationship between Pawar and Adani goes back almost two decades. In Pawar’s autobiography, he praised Adani for his hard work and ambition in the infrastructure sector. Adani started from humble beginnings, working as a salesman in Mumbai before building his corporate empire.
