Hyderabad: MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who is hoping to get a cabinet position, met with AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan to explain his recent comments against senior party leader K Jana Reddy.
Rajagopal Reddy had earlier criticized Jana Reddy for supporting MLAs from Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts for cabinet posts. Jana Reddy had written a letter to the party leadership, recommending that more attention be given to MLAs from these areas. He reportedly supported Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy for a cabinet position. This upset Rajagopal Reddy, who felt it hurt his chances of becoming a minister. He then accused Jana Reddy of trying to block his entry into the cabinet, which created tension within the party.
On Wednesday, Rajagopal Reddy visited Gandhi Bhavan to speak with Meenakshi Natarajan. She told him that party members should not make public statements against each other. She advised him to stay quiet about cabinet expansion and focus on building the party in his own area.
Speaking to the media later, Rajagopal Reddy said he respects senior leaders like Jana Reddy. However, he felt that Jana Reddy should not have written to the party leadership, as it might influence their decisions. He also said his meeting with Meenakshi Natarajan was just a courtesy visit, and they discussed party matters, especially how to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level ahead of local elections.
