Eric Garcetti, the US Ambassador to India, presented his credentials to President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. This marks the beginning of his tenure as envoy to India. Along with ambassadors of Qatar and Monaco, Garcetti presented an official letter from the US government granting him the authority to represent the United States as an ambassador to India.
Garcetti expressed his gratitude to the Indian government for their partnership with the United States and his excitement to work on defining issues of our time. The President of India accepted credentials from all three ambassadors at the ceremony.
Garcetti’s appointment comes after a long period of vacancy in the position of US ambassador to India. Kenneth Juster stepped down after the change of government in the United States in 2021. The Indian embassy in the US welcomed Garcetti on his arrival and said it is ready to work with him to strengthen bilateral ties.
