Annual Amarnath Yatra Commences Registration Process

Registration for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage has started. People are going to bank branches across the country to get a permit. The pilgrimage is from July 1 to August 31 and goes to a cave shrine in south Kashmir. There are two routes, one is 48 km and the other is 14 km. This year, the process is different – instead of filling out a form by hand, it’s generated by a computer based on Aadhaar authentication. Everyone who wants to go needs a health certificate from a designated doctor. The pilgrimage schedule was decided by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.

The Punjab National Bank is handling the registration, and there are 316 branches where it can be done. People have been lining up since early in the morning to register.
