Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) teams conducted swift raids on Regional Transport Authority (RTA) check posts across Telangana on Sunday. These surprise inspections focused on locations in districts like Sangareddy, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Adilabad, Kamareddy, and Komaram Bheem. The ACB began their operations late Saturday night.
In Sangareddy, the ACB inspected the interstate RTA check post at Madgi. At the same time, they conducted checks at the Aswaraopet interstate border post in Bhadradri Kothagudem. Kamareddy district saw searches at the Salabatpur RTO check post in Madnur mandal.
During these actions, ACB officials seized Rs. 1,26,000 in cash at the Boraj check post. They also found Rs. 5,100 at the Wankidi post in Komaram Bheem district and Rs. 3,000 in illegal cash at other sites. Additionally, Rs. 51,300 was taken from private individuals at the Pondurthi RTA checkpoint in Bikkanoor mandal, Kamareddy district.
These raids happened during increased travel for the Diwali festival, raising concerns about possible corruption at RTA check posts as people traveled from Telangana to nearby states. In response to these worries, ACB officials increased their oversight of border district check posts.
