Telangana’s anti-corruption officials launched surprise inspections across multiple government offices on Saturday, November 15. The operation targeted sub-registrar offices throughout the state and uncovered significant irregularities.
During these raids, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) discovered Rs 2,51,990 in illegal cash that officials could not account for. This money was immediately confiscated as evidence of corrupt practices.
The inspection covered 11 different locations including Gandipet, Serilingampally, Medchal, Nizamabad Town, Zaheerabad, Miryalaguda, Wanaparthy, Mancherial, Pedapalli, Bhoopalpalli, and Wyra.
Investigators found serious administrative failures during their checks. 289 registered documents had not been delivered to rightful owners, creating unnecessary delays for citizens. Additionally, 79 unauthorized individuals were found inside government premises without proper permission.
The unauthorized persons included 19 private individuals and 60 document writers who had no business being in restricted areas. Many security cameras were also broken or not working properly, compromising office security.
ACB officials extended their investigation to the homes of 13 Sub-Registrar Officers (SROs). These residential searches yielded additional evidence including cash, jewelry, and property papers that raised questions about their legal acquisition.
The corruption bureau plans to submit a detailed report to state authorities. This documentation will recommend disciplinary action against officials who violated their duties and engaged in corrupt practices.
Citizens experiencing bribery demands from government workers can now seek help through multiple channels. The ACB operates a toll-free helpline at 1064 for immediate assistance.
People can also file complaints through the bureau’s official website or social media platforms. WhatsApp support is available at 9440446106, while Facebook users can contact Telangana ACB. The organization also maintains an active presence on X (formerly Twitter) under the handle @TelanganaACB.
