The Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, Koyye Moshenu Raju, issued a gazette notification on May 15, disqualifying YSRC MLC Janga Krishna Murthy for defecting to TDP. Krishna Murthy had resigned from YSRC and joined TDP in a public meeting on April 6, 2024. He had previously won as an MLA twice on a Congress ticket before switching to YSRC.

The Council Chairman’s notification was based on a complaint by Government Whip Lella Appi Reddy, who accused Krishna Murthy of engaging in anti-party activities by openly criticizing YSRC and meeting opposition leader Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Despite denying the allegations, Krishna Murthy was disqualified under the X Schedule of the Constitution.
