Attapur police arrested three youths after they were allegedly caught performing stunts on scooters and riding at high speed near Pillar No. 257 on the night of October 6. Police said the riders put other road users at risk.
The incident came to light during routine patrolling near a Flipkart godown. Officers noticed a video circulating on social media that showed three youths riding Honda Dio scooters without registration number plates and performing stunts on the road. The footage had also been uploaded to Instagram.
Based on a complaint from patrol car in-charge K. Anjaneyulu, Attapur police registered a case and began an investigation. Police later identified and arrested the three riders.
The accused were identified as Md. Mohinudin alias Mohin, 24, a driver from Nehru Nagar, Kachiguda; Mohammed Rizwan, 21, a private company employee from Nehru Nagar, Yakutpura; and Tohid, 19, a private company employee from CIB Quarters, Kachiguda.
Police advised parents not to give two-wheelers to minors or people without valid driving licences. They also asked parents to monitor their children’s social media activity and discourage them from attempting stunts for views and likes.
Police warned that action would be taken against people riding without number plates, driving on the wrong side, racing or performing stunts on public roads and flyovers, including areas around Attapur and the P.V. Narasimha Rao Expressway. Officers said they would use CCTV footage and social media monitoring to identify traffic violations and invoke relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.
