Bandi Sanjay Reviews ‘Sampoorna Abhiyan’ Initiative in Nagaland

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, is currently on a three-day visit to Nagaland. During his trip, he emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to developing the Northeastern states.

On Tuesday, Bandi Sanjay visited Mokokchung district, where he met with senior officials. He reviewed the progress of various Central government schemes and gathered feedback from the local administration. His review focused on important sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, transportation, and water resources.

During the meeting, officials highlighted several challenges faced by the region. These included shortages of staff in remote areas, poor road conditions that impact pregnant women and students, and issues with water availability. The officials also proposed the creation of a dedicated skill development centre, which the minister acknowledged. Additionally, discussions were held about border issues with Assam.

Bandi Sanjay also spoke about the importance of oil palm cultivation in the region. He mentioned that the government has allocated over Rs 11,000 crores in the recent budget to promote this initiative. He pointed out that the government spends Rs 2.5 lakh crores annually on the development of the Northeast and stressed the need for balanced growth across states like Nagaland.

Later in the day, the minister visited the Mokokchung District Hospital, where a new building is under construction with Rs five crore in funding from the Central government. He instructed officials to speed up the completion of this project. Before concluding his day, Bandi Sanjay met with Nagaland’s Director General of Police, Rupin Sharma. He also attended a dinner hosted by Governor La Ganesan, which was also attended by the Chief Secretary and other senior officials.
