Banjara Hills resident fined Rs 5,000 for wasting water

Hyderabad: A resident in Banjara Hills has been fined Rs 5,000 for water wastage. His overhead tank overflowed, spilling water onto the street.

The incident happened at E Raj Kumar’s home on Road No. 12, under the watch of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB). Raj Kumar was filling his tank from a borewell without checking the water level, causing the overflow. A manager saw the overflow and reported it. Following Managing Director Ashok Reddy’s orders, officials issued a notice and fined the resident for his carelessness.

The HMWSSB has continuously asked people to conserve water and prevent waste. They noted that overflowing tanks waste water and can flood streets, causing problems for others.

Officials stressed that wasting water due to negligence will lead to penalties. They reminded everyone that managing household water use is each person’s responsibility.
