Hyderabad faced intense rain on Wednesday night, disrupting daily life. The downpour caused waterlogging and slow traffic across many parts of the city. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert until Thursday evening.
Water quickly filled the streets, leading to flooding in several neighborhoods. Motorists struggled to drive through water as deep as four feet. Many parked vehicles were submerged.
Heavy rain hit areas such as Miyapur, Kukatpally, Moosapet, Begumpet, and Secunderabad. Other affected places included Nampally, Chaderghat, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, and Hayatnagar.
Neighborhoods like Kothapet, Bowenpally, Marredpally, Jubilee Hills, and Banjara Hills also experienced severe rain. The Old City areas, including Kalapather and Yakutpura, were similarly impacted.
According to the Telangana Development Planning Society, several parts of the city recorded significant rainfall. By 9 PM, JP Nagar Comm Hall in Miyapur saw the highest rainfall at 97.5mm, followed by MMTS Lingampally at 82.3 mm. University of Hyderabad and Gachibowli recorded 81.3 mm and 66.5 mm, respectively.
The rain caused massive traffic jams, with vehicles moving very slowly. Areas like Gachibowli, Madhapur, Nanakramguda, and the Hitech City were heavily congested. Banjara Hills, Khairtabad, and Ameerpet also faced gridlock, leaving citizens drenched and stranded.
