Chief Minister Revanth Reddy informed the Telangana Assembly that out of the total 1.02 crore acres listed under 22A prohibitions, only 3.73 lakh acres involve actual private patta land disputes. The Chief Minister provided a detailed breakdown of the land categories falling under the prohibited list, clarifying the composition of the contentious 22A land records that have been a subject of political debate in the state.
According to the data presented by the Chief Minister, 24,63,940 acres are assigned lands under 22A(1)(a), while 42,61,552 acres comprise forest lands. Other government lands, including shikam lands, account for approximately 29 lakh acres. Temple, Endowments and Wakf properties constitute around 5,12,792 acres, while Agricultural and Urban Land Ceiling surplus lands measure 9,466 acres. Additionally, government orders, court attachments, ED/CBI attachments and other prohibited lands cover 4,747 acres.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the total land under these prohibited categories amounts to 98,31,320 acres, which forms the bulk of the 1.02 crore acres under dispute. He clarified that private patta lands in the prohibited list constitute only 3,73,931 acres, representing a small fraction of the overall figure. This breakdown aims to dispel confusion about the actual extent of private land disputes versus government and protected lands.
Revanth Reddy issued a direct challenge to the BRS party, asking them to demonstrate whether the government could legally remove even one inch of the 98.31 lakh acres from the prohibited list. The Chief Minister’s statement in the Assembly sought to clarify the government’s position on the 22A land issue and address opposition criticism regarding land records management in Telangana.
