The BCCI, India’s cricket board, could earn over $1.15 billion from the International Cricket Council’s annual revenue during the next five-year cycle from 2023-2027. The ICC’s annual revenue is estimated to be around $600 million. An anonymous senior BCCI source said that the proposed model is based on cricket rankings, performance in ICC events, and commercial contribution to the sport. The source added that India contributes a significant share to the commercial element, as they earned the highest revenue for the last cycle from 2018-2022. With their secretary Jay Shah heading the ICC’s all-powerful financial decision-making Finance & Commercial Affairs, the BCCI could increase their annual ICC revenue by nearly three times.
