Nalgonda witnessed rising tensions on Monday when BJP members protested against Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. The minister opened his personal office where the historic R&B Guest House once stood, right in the town center.
BJP leaders such as Bandi Prasad, Pilli Ramaraju Yadav, and council members Bojja Nagaraju, Ravirala Venkat, Gurram Venkanna, and Sai tried to stop the event. They were detained and taken to Gurrampodu police station.
Bandi Prasad spoke to reporters, criticizing the minister’s actions. He emphasized that the R&B Guest House had been an important part of Nalgonda for nearly 100 years, serving as a resting place for visiting dignitaries. “It was more than just a building; it was a symbol of our heritage,” he remarked.
He accused the minister of demolishing the guest house to build a lavish MLA office near the Zilla Parishad office, costing several crores. “The minister has abused his power by turning a historic site into his personal space and calling it a guest house,” he asserted.
Bandi Prasad also condemned the arrests of BJP leaders during their peaceful protest, viewing it as an attack on democratic rights. He stated that the BJP firmly stands against the destruction of public heritage for political gain.
