In Khammam, a group from the BJP, led by senior leader Namburi Ramalingeswara Rao, approached Additional Collector (Revenue) Srinivasa Reddy on Saturday. They requested a quick land survey to protect forest lands in Gangaram village, Sattupalli mandal.
The group claimed that forest lands in Survey Nos. 133, 131, and 40, covering over 300 acres, are being illegally taken over by a real estate developer from Hyderabad. They accused the developer of working with local political figures to destroy hills and forests for illegal occupation.
Ramalingeswara Rao stated that the developer started using machinery to clear the hills but stopped after protests from BJP leaders and local farmers. He emphasized this is not a one-time issue.
BJP leaders are worried about repeated illegal takeovers of forest lands in the area, blaming the lack of action from revenue officials. They called for an urgent and thorough government survey to clearly mark forest lands and take action against those responsible for encroachment.
With support from BJP national leader Dr. Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, they plan to inform Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and Bhupender Yadav about the situation soon.
Many BJP members joined the delegation, including Veeramraju Bhaskari (constituency convenor), Sali Shivakrishna (Sattupalli mandal president), Banoth Vijay (Sattupalli town president), and Vemula Lakshminarayana (general secretary).
