Warangal: The Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao, has faced criticism for prioritizing politics over addressing the problems caused by floods in the state. Errabelli Pradeep Rao, Chairman of the Warangal Urban Cooperative Bank and a BJP leader, expressed his disappointment with KCR’s focus on his political tour in Maharashtra instead of inspecting the flood-affected areas in Telangana. Pradeep Rao accused KCR of being more interested in securing votes rather than providing relief to the affected people. He also compared KCR’s actions to those of Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, who is actively inspecting the flood-affected areas to instill confidence among the people.

Pradeep Rao further criticized KCR for not inspecting the damaged crops and for announcing inadequate relief funds. The State Government’s announcement of Rs 500 crore for the flood-affected is considered insufficient, especially considering that the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation alone suffered a loss of Rs 427 crore, as reported by the Central team assessing the damage caused by the rains. Pradeep Rao demanded Rs 4 lakh compensation for each family who lost a member in the floods, citing that the State Government has Rs 900 crore funds under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

In addition, Pradeep Rao mentioned that the local MLA, Nannapuneni Narender, has been mocking BJP leaders who have been distributing ration and bedsheets to flood-affected families using their own money. Pradeep Rao urged the MLA to at least advocate for government relief for the residents of Warangal who have been affected by the floods. Various BJP leaders including Kondeti Sridhar, Ratnam Satish Shaw, Bakam Harishankar, Kanukuntla Ranjith, Tekumatla Renuka, Martin Luther, M Amarish, and Bandi Sujatha were present during the media interaction.
