Khammam: The government is not respecting the Constitution by taking land and starting work without giving compensation, said Nelluri Koteswara Rao, the BJP District President. On Saturday, Rao spoke with people displaced by the Munneru flood in Divisions 29 and 30 of Khammam city. The victims handed him petitions during his visit.

The affected residents explained they have not received full compensation for damages from last year’s Munneru floods. They also mentioned losing many acres of land due to the construction of a retaining wall along the Munneru, for which they have not been adequately compensated.

The BJP leaders promised to protest if the victims’ concerns are not addressed. Rao emphasized their commitment to seeking justice under the 2013 Land Acquisition Act. He assured the victims that they would talk to government officials to ensure they receive what is due.
