Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Nizamabad to open the new National Turmeric Board office in Vinayak Nagar. He stated that Prime Minister Modi has realized a long-held dream of turmeric farmers, which spanned forty years. Shah highlighted the government’s dedication to supporting turmeric farmers in Telangana, noting that Nizamabad is a key area for turmeric farming.
Shah expressed his satisfaction in launching the Turmeric Board and praised the efforts of BJP MPs in pushing for its creation in Telangana. He mentioned the selection of a local leader for the board and praised Nizamabad’s worldwide fame for its turmeric. He called turmeric a “divine medicine” due to its health benefits, including antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-cancer properties. Shah announced a goal to export one billion dollars’ worth of turmeric by 2030.
The board will train farmers in modern farming techniques and start geo-tagging for turmeric crops. Shah mentioned the Bharat Cooperative Society‘s role in helping farmers.
Many attended the opening event, including Union Ministers Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay, state ministers, MPs, and the new Turmeric Board Chairperson, Ganga Reddy.
