Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy on Sunday, December 7, launched a special drive to address the growing monkey menace in Chevella constituency.
Speaking to the media during the drive, Reddy highlighted that Telangana is facing a major monkey problem that has been causing significant distress to local communities, particularly farmers.
The BJP MP criticized the Telangana government for its alleged inaction in addressing the issue. He claimed that the state administration is not taking adequate measures to catch monkeys and control their population.
Reddy revealed that he had raised the monkey menace issue in Parliament to draw national attention to the problem affecting his constituency. He emphasized the severity of the situation by pointing out the extensive damage caused by monkeys to agricultural fields.
According to the MP, monkeys have been destroying crops and farmlands, leading to considerable financial losses for farmers in the region. The agricultural damage has become a pressing concern for rural communities who depend on farming for their livelihood.
The monkey menace is reportedly affecting multiple districts that fall under Reddy’s constituency, including Medak, Mahabubnagar, and Adilabad. These areas have witnessed increased incidents of monkey attacks on crops and occasional confrontations with residents.
The drive launched by the Chevella MP aims to address the immediate concerns of local farmers and residents who have been struggling with the monkey problem for an extended period.
During his media interaction, Reddy stressed the need for coordinated efforts between the central and state governments to implement effective solutions for controlling the monkey population and preventing further damage to agricultural lands.
The issue of monkey menace has been a recurring problem in several parts of Telangana, with farmers frequently reporting crop losses and property damage. The lack of natural predators and increasing urbanization have contributed to the rising monkey population in these areas.
Reddy stated that the monkey menace is affecting districts under his constituency including Medak, Mahabubnagar, Adilabad.
