Former BJD MP Arka Keshari Deo has returned to the BJP after a gap of about 10 years. He believes that the BJP is the only party working for the welfare of the people. Deo, along with his wife Malvika Devi, joined the BJP at its State headquarters in Bhubaneswar. The event was attended by the party’s Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal and other senior leaders.

Deo explained that he joined the BJP because he sees it as the only party focused on people’s welfare and the development of the country. He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policies, which have garnered appreciation from all. Deo’s supporters suggested that he switch to the BJP.

Deo had initially joined the BJD in 2013 after his father’s passing. His father, Bikram Keshari Deo, was a former BJP MP. Deo himself was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 from Kalahandi on a BJD ticket. However, he was denied a ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, which led to his resignation from the ruling party in Odisha.

In addition to Deo, Sanjukta Singhdeo and Tanmay Singhdeo of the Madanpur-Rampur royal family in Narla of Kalahandi have also joined the BJP. Sudhansu Sekhar Nayak, a prominent educationist from Bant block in Bhadrak district, has also switched to the BJP after leaving the BJD.
