Warangal: The use of bouncers is growing quickly in Warangal, the second biggest city in Telangana after Hyderabad. Currently, there are four to five security companies in the city offering bouncer services and doing well in business.
Men who used to spend a lot of time at the gym and hang out around the city are now finding jobs as bouncers. These jobs are becoming more common, even for small events. Having bouncers at an event is now seen as a symbol of status and image. While the name and style may have changed over time, the role of bodyguards or protectors has existed since ancient times.
These muscular men with serious looks are no longer limited to guarding bars, pubs, nightclubs, or celebrities. Today, they are present at many public events like movie launches, weddings, and store openings. They act as a buffer between the crowd and important guests, making sure everything runs smoothly.
Md. Wahed Ali runs a professional bouncer service called Safe Shield Bouncers near Dargah in Kazipet. He told The Hans India that although bouncers may look tough, they are trained to handle situations calmly. “We are taught to talk politely and solve problems peacefully, instead of making things worse,” he explained.
For someone to become a bouncer, Wahed Ali says they must meet certain physical standards. A person should be at least 168 cm tall, weigh between 90 to 100 kg, and have biceps that are at least 18 cm in size.
Wahed Ali used to work as a bouncer in Hyderabad before starting his own business in 2021. Now, his team has grown to 70 members, including 15 women. He provides services not only in Warangal, Hanumakonda, and Kazipet but also in places like Karimnagar, Peddapally, Mancherial, and Kagaznagar. Most of his clients are event organizers for store openings and functions where film actresses are the main guests. He charges around Rs 7,000 for a six-member bouncer team that works for up to eight hours.
