Hyderabad, August 12: The people of Telangana are being urged to stay alert as a low-pressure system is set to bring very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across the state over the next four days, leading to possible flooding in several districts.
According to weather alerts, August 12–13 will see very heavy flooding rains in South and East Telangana, with rainfall amounts between 150 mm and 200 mm expected in certain areas. Hyderabad will experience light showers till evening today, followed by moderate to heavy rainfall in the evening and night. Similar rain intensity is forecast for the city on August 13.
From August 14–15, the focus will shift to West and Central Telangana, where very heavy flooding rains are again expected in some places. Hyderabad is likely to face heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 14, with certain areas receiving 70–120 mm of rain cumulatively. Heavy rains are also forecast for West Hyderabad on August 15.
Authorities advise residents to stay indoors when possible, avoid waterlogged areas, and make travel plans with caution. The risk of urban flooding, traffic disruptions, and power outages is high during this period.
