Hyderabad: On Thursday, K T Rama Rao, the BRS working president, expressed strong disapproval of a map of India shared by Madhav, the Andhra Pradesh BJP Chief. This map notably left out Telangana.

Rama Rao voiced his concerns on X, criticizing the BJP leader’s actions. He emphasized that the people of Telangana have long fought for their cultural and geographical identity. The map, showing a united Andhra Pradesh and ignoring Telangana, was seen as a disrespectful gesture to this struggle. Rama Rao demanded clarity from the BJP, asking whether this reflects their political agenda or if it was an oversight. If the latter, he insisted on an apology to the people of Telangana.

D Sravan Kumar, a BRS MLC, also condemned the omission of Telangana from the map, calling it a “dangerous and deeply offensive act.” He was shocked that while states like Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh were recognized, Telangana, the 28th state formed through significant struggle, was excluded.

Sravan argued that this act by Andhra leaders was more than an oversight. He described it as an intentional insult, showing arrogance and an attempt to undermine Telangana’s identity. This act, he claimed, was an attack on those who fought for Telangana’s statehood and a challenge to the Constitution of India, which recognizes all states.

He further accused the Andhra leaders of hypocrisy, stating that while they take resources like Godavari and Krishna waters, they also erase Telangana’s identity from maps.

Sravan urged the Telangana DGP to take immediate legal action. He suggested charges under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (2023), including forgery and promoting regional enmity. He concluded by highlighting that this issue is about their struggle, sacrifices, and constitutional rights.
