The Telangana High Court has disqualified Kothagudem MLA Vanama Venkatateswara Rao because he did not provide enough information about his family’s assets in his election affidavit. The court has decided that Jalagam Venkata Rao, who received the second highest number of votes after Venkatateswara Rao, will take his place as the MLA.

After the court’s decision, Jalagam Venkata Rao met with the state Assembly Secretary and submitted a memorandum with the court orders, asking for his name to be announced as the member of the Legislative Assembly. However, it is reported that the Speaker is hesitant to follow the court’s orders because the BRS Supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has not made a final decision on the matter.

During the first day of the assembly session, leaders mentioned that Venkatateswara Rao is waiting for a positive response from the Speaker. The disqualified MLA has already chosen not to attend the session. It is unlikely that the Speaker will make a decision during the current assembly session.
