Hyderabad: On Wednesday, former Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy discussed potential legal actions against the Kaleshwaram Commission. He spoke at a press conference at MLA Quarters after BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao traveled to Eravelli. Niranjan Reddy clarified that the Kaleshwaram project was a decision made by the state cabinet, not by any individual. This project aims to address the drinking water and irrigation needs.

He explained that KCR initiated the Kaleshwaram project for this reason. He accused Congress of opposing the project from the start, contrasting it with their Chevella project, which lacked water and necessary approvals. Niranjan Reddy criticized Congress for taking decades to complete projects, while the Kaleshwaram project was developed with input from the Council of Ministers, experts, the Central Water Commission, and with permissions from neighboring states.

The project was completed swiftly, designed to irrigate 40 lakh acres in North Telangana. Niranjan Reddy highlighted that farmers lacked irrigation water until Congress was in power. He noted that Central Water Commission experts praised Kaleshwaram as an engineering marvel. According to him, Congress formed the commission based on false claims and attempted to undermine KCR by calling him as a witness, which backfired.
