K Chandrashekar Rao, the president of BRS, believes that not aligning with any major alliances like NDA or INDI hurt the party in the recent elections. He expressed this concern during a meeting with senior leaders after the Lok Sabha results. KCR felt that people across the country tended to vote for parties within alliances, leaving out those who were not part of any alliance.

The BRS had chosen to stay away from both the BJP and Congress-led alliances, with KCR hoping that regional parties would play a crucial role in the elections. However, the party did not win any seats in the Lok Sabha this time, marking the first time in 24 years since its formation. KCR noted that similar outcomes were seen in other states like Andhra Pradesh, where YSRCP also faced setbacks.

In contrast, parties aligned with major alliances like NDA or INDI saw positive results in the elections. For example, parties like Telugu Desam and Jana Sena in Andhra Pradesh benefited from their alliance with BJP-led NDA, winning 21 out of 25 seats. Similarly, other regional parties in states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh also gained from their alliances.

A senior BRS leader acknowledged that the party should have considered aligning with an alliance to improve its chances in the elections. He emphasized the importance of making a decision on alliances for future elections, recognizing that it would be a challenging choice to make.
