Warangal: The state government is dedicated to ensuring farmers get good prices for their produce, according to Minister for Environment, Forests, and Endowments, Konda Surekha.
Speaking at the inauguration of a cotton procurement center by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) at Enumamula Market Yard in Warangal on Monday, she highlighted the government’s commitment to farmers. She mentioned that the Congress party has always focused on the welfare of farmers. She also recalled that former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy had introduced various initiatives, including providing fair prices, free electricity, and seed subsidies for the benefit of farmers.
Konda Surekha reassured farmers that the CCI will buy all of their cotton stock. To address concerns about moisture levels in the cotton, she said a committee has been formed. Additionally, the payment for the cotton will be directly deposited into the farmers’ bank accounts within three days after the procurement by the CCI.
Wardhannapet MLA K R Nagaraju also spoke at the event. He praised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for taking steps to support farmers, such as waiving crop loans and providing a continuous 24-hour power supply. He urged CCI officials to make the cotton procurement process smooth and problem-free for farmers.
Warangal District Collector Satya Sarada informed that 14 out of the planned 27 procurement centers have already been opened across the district. She also mentioned that the procurement centers in the Narsampet constituency would be operational within a week.
Several other officials and representatives were present at the event, including Corporators Sulochana, Poshala Padma, Bhogi Suvarna, Chintakula Anil, Uma Damodar Yadav, Additional Collector G Sandhyarani, CCI General Manager Arjun Dubey, Marketing Wing JD Srinivas, Cotton Purchasing Officer Krishna Reddy, and Chamber of Commerce President Ravinder Reddy.
