The Centre has announced that it cannot release the first installment of Rs 1,148.38 crore under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan to Telangana. This decision was made due to a shortfall of Rs 199.77 crore in the state’s share for the years 2022-23. The fund-sharing pattern for the scheme is 60:40 between the Centre and Telangana. The allocated amount for the academic year 2023-24 could not be released because of this shortfall.

According to the procedure, the audited accounts of the Samagra Shiksha scheme are to be presented before the respective State/UT assemblies. The audited accounts for Telangana have been submitted to the State legislature up to 2020-21.
