The Telangana state government has received a significant boost for its ambitious Indiramma Towers project with the Centre approving ₹100.8 crore for the construction of affordable housing in the CURE area. The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee under the Ministry of Urban Development has sanctioned 6,720 flats under 14 Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) projects as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Urban) 2.0. This approval marks a major step forward in the state’s efforts to provide affordable housing to eligible beneficiaries across urban areas.

The total estimated cost for constructing these 6,720 flats stands at ₹739.2 crore. The financial structure includes multiple stakeholders, with the Centre contributing ₹100.8 crore, the state government providing ₹67.2 crore, and urban local bodies adding ₹147.84 crore to the project. Beneficiaries will contribute the remaining ₹403.2 crore towards the construction. Additionally, the Centre has approved a Technology Innovation Grant of ₹20.16 crore to support modern construction methods and techniques in the project.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy recently laid the foundation stone for the Indiramma Towers at KPHB Colony, signaling the government’s commitment to expedite the housing initiative. Officials have indicated that the Centre is expected to release ₹40.32 crore towards construction and ₹10.08 crore as the Technology Innovation Grant in the first installment. Under the scheme, each flat has been assigned a construction cost of ₹11 lakh, with the government bearing ₹5 lakh and beneficiaries contributing the remaining ₹6 lakh.

The Centre has set specific timelines for the project implementation, stipulating that all sanctioned houses must be grounded by November 2026. The completion period has been set at 18 to 24 months, with final delivery expected between September 2028 and September 2029. However, the state government has announced its intention to complete the construction within a year, demonstrating an ambitious timeline that significantly exceeds the Centre’s requirements. The Centre has also directed the state government to ensure that the sale price of the houses remains fixed and is not altered under any circumstances.

The approval of this project represents a collaborative effort between the Centre, state government, urban local bodies, and beneficiaries to address the housing needs in Telangana’s urban areas. The CURE area development will benefit thousands of families seeking affordable housing options in the region. Officials stated that the Centre’s approval would enable the state government to expedite construction activities and deliver homes to eligible beneficiaries in a timely manner under the comprehensive framework of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana.
