Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, stated that the Central Government will provide help according to the rules to support Telangana after the recent floods.

Speaking to the media at Begumpet Airport on Friday evening, Sanjay Kumar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had directed him to visit the flood-hit areas. He was accompanied by Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, State Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, and Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao. Together, they conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas in Khammam and spoke directly with farmers to understand the situation.

Sanjay Kumar reassured that the Centre is prepared to provide the necessary assistance, emphasizing that the support is beyond politics. He mentioned that during their discussions, they raised concerns about how the previous KCR government had diverted State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) money, which was meant to help in such situations.

He further added that once the actual damage is assessed, the Centre will offer help based on the rules and guidelines.

During his speech, Sanjay Kumar criticized Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). He referred to KCR as a ‘Dasama Graha’ (a term used to describe a negative influence) and claimed that the people of Telangana no longer support him. He said that despite KCR’s efforts, including performing religious rituals, he will not return to power.

Sanjay Kumar also accused KCR of focusing on his own interests rather than the welfare of the people, especially during times of crisis. He pointed out that KCR has been in power for ten years, during which he made his son a minister and gave important positions to other family members. He suggested that KCR’s recent religious activities were more about keeping his political party together than helping the people of Telangana.
