The national president of the Telugu Desam Party, N Chandrababu Naidu, said that no investors are confident about investing in Andhra Pradesh. He criticized Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for the state slipping to 14th place among states in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) flow. Andhra Pradesh was once among the top five Indian states attracting FDIs, but now ranks low on the list. Naidu accused Jagan of only caring about his own wealth and public relations, and not about creating jobs for the youth of Andhra Pradesh.

According to the Union government, Andhra Pradesh attracted FDI worth $511.7 million between October 2019 and March 2022. The top three states in FDI equity inflow are Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat.
