Hyderabad: Dr. Mekala Shilpa Reddy, President of BJP Telangana Mahila Morcha, has been reappointed for a second term. She expressed gratitude to BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao, Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. K. Laxman, and all party MPs and MLAs for their ongoing support.
During her speech, Shilpa Reddy highlighted the cultural importance of Bathukamma, which she described as a lively representation of Telangana’s heritage.
She announced that the BJP Telangana Mahila Morcha will host a grand Bathukamma festival on September 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM near Charminar, Hyderabad. The celebration will feature traditional floral displays, offerings to Goddess Gauramma, and festive performances by women across nine days.
The official poster for this event was revealed by BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao.
Shilpa Reddy noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s next-generation GST reforms coincide with Bathukamma and Navratri, presenting a special gift to women nationwide.
However, she voiced concerns over alleged restrictions by the Congress-led state government, mentioning that police had denied permissions for Bathukamma events, leading organizers to seek legal intervention. “It’s unfair to limit a festival that belongs to every Hindu woman in Telangana,” she stated, urging women to consider their cultural rights.
Addressing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Shilpa Reddy called for true empowerment of women, emphasizing the need for freedom to celebrate traditions without constraints. She also mentioned that the party might approach Prime Minister Modi for further action if needed.
The event will also feature BJP State General Secretary Gautam Rao, MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, MLC Anji Reddy, BJP State Vice President Banda Karthika Reddy, Sunitha Reddy, and other members of the Mahila Morcha Committee.
