Chief Electoral Officer Reviews Voter List Anomalies and Ward Sabha Arrangements Across Telangana

C. Sudharsan Reddy, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana, conducted a comprehensive video conference on August 24, 2026, with electoral officials across the state to discuss the conduct of Gram and Ward Sabhas at all polling stations. The meeting was attended by Dr. Vasam Venkateswar Reddy, IAS, Additional Chief Electoral Officer, G.S. Chary, Deputy CEO and Commissioner of GHMC and District Electoral Officer of Hyderabad, along with District Electoral Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers from all districts.

During the conference, the Chief Electoral Officer provided detailed instructions to DEOs, EROs and AEROs regarding the organization and management of Gram and Ward Sabhas. He emphasized proper procedures for issuing notices to voters with anomalies and logical discrepancies, and conducting hearings in accordance with Election Commission of India guidelines.

The CEO directed that Booth Level Officers must publicly read out details of Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) voters during the Gram and Ward Sabhas. Additionally, names of voters included in the draft electoral rolls must also be announced publicly during these meetings. Officials were instructed to identify and review applications of those who applied online or offline but whose names were not included in the draft electoral roll for any reason.

Special attention was given to raising awareness among eligible Indian citizens who will complete 18 years of age by October 1, 2026. Such individuals should be encouraged to register their names in the electoral rolls by submitting Form-6, Declaration Form and necessary supporting documents. The public should also be guided to submit Form-7 for deletion of names, Form-8 for corrections, along with relevant supporting documents.

Officials were instructed to conduct discussions during Gram and Ward Sabhas regarding documents required during the period designated for Claims, Objections and Verification, as prescribed by the Election Commission of India. Other important matters related to electoral rolls and Special Intensive Revision should also be discussed during these meetings, with BLOs taking proper notes of all proceedings.

The CEO emphasized expediting the process of generating and issuing notices to voters with No-Mapping Cases and Anomalies. Every notice must clearly and mandatorily mention the Hearing Venue, Date and Time. BLOs were directed to share lists related to anomalies and no-mapping cases with concerned political parties to ensure transparency in the process.

To maintain coordination with political parties, officials were instructed to conduct Political Party Meetings on a mandatory weekly basis. The CEO subsequently reviewed the notice generation and issuance process, conduct of hearings, arrangements for Gram and Ward Sabhas, and other related matters with DEOs from all districts.

The Chief Electoral Officer emphasized that conducting Gram and Ward Sabhas in a transparent and effective manner will build confidence among voters and bring greater credibility to the electoral process. The video conference was attended by Nodal Officers and Project Manager (IT), ensuring comprehensive participation across all levels of electoral administration.
