Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has accused the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of denying him permission to travel to the United States, alleging political discrimination and bias favoring Gujarat. The Chief Minister expressed his concerns during a press interaction, stating that while the ministry approved his visit to England, it rejected his proposed tour to America under the Telangana Rising 2047 initiative.

According to the Chief Minister, complete details regarding the foreign tour were submitted to the MEA. He questioned why permission was granted for the England visit but denied for the US tour, suggesting there was no legitimate reason for the rejection. Revanth Reddy pointed out that Mahatma Gandhi and Ambedkar studied in England and became visionaries for the country, emphasizing the importance of international exposure for educational development.

The Chief Minister drew a comparison with Gujarat Chief Minister, who received permission to visit the US and Canada from August 17 to 28 under the Vibrant Gujarat initiative. He alleged that the Prime Minister is acting as a leader from Gujarat rather than as the Prime Minister of India, creating an uneven playing field for different states.

Revanth Reddy clarified that the purpose of the foreign tour was to bring the benefits of foreign education and sports practices to Telangana. He emphasized that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds do not have the means to study abroad, and the government is striving to provide them with similar opportunities within the state.

The Chief Minister stated that the denial is not a personal insult to him but an injustice inflicted upon the four crore people of Telangana. He called for condemnation of the Centre’s decision, rising above partisan politics, and described the move as an attempt to obstruct Telangana’s development. He asserted that the Centre’s attitude clearly reveals discrimination against the state.

Telangana MPs will raise this issue in Parliament, according to the Chief Minister. He alleged that the Centre blocked his tour because it feared it might hinder Gujarat’s development, labeling it as political discrimination and an attempt to stall Telangana’s progress. He condemned the Centre’s stance unanimously, stating it goes against the spirit of federalism.

Despite the setback, Revanth Reddy announced that the state government is organizing the Telangana Global Summit 2026 under the aegis of Invest Telangana on December 8 and 9. The government plans to invite investments in the education and sports sectors during this summit. He emphasized that this was an official tour and all programs were being conducted under the supervision of the Indian Embassy.

The Chief Minister concluded by alleging that the Gujarati leadership is conspiring to obstruct Telangana’s development. He stated that while they may block his tour, they cannot stop him from achieving his goal of bringing educational and sports opportunities to the people of Telangana. Beyond rejecting the tour, he claimed that BJP leaders leveled personal political allegations against him.
