Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced plans to establish a special Education Corporation to enhance infrastructure and educational quality under the new Telangana Education Policy. He has urged the union government to consider educational spending as an investment and to exclude education-related loans from the FRBM limit. The Chief Minister highlighted the need for clear guidelines on syllabus development, resource allocation, and policy execution.
The current education system lacks essential elements like language, basic knowledge, and skills, according to the Chief Minister. He stressed that the new policy must equip students with these necessities to compete globally. Revanth Reddy expressed concerns that the present system is not producing skilled individuals to seize opportunities arising from economic liberalization.
Despite significant funding, the number of students in government schools is declining, the Chief Minister noted. Private schools offer education from Nursery, LKG, and UKG, while government schools begin at Class One, focusing more on students. To attract parents to government schools, the same level of care and environment as private institutions must be provided, which should be considered in the new policy.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the new policy should integrate language, knowledge, skills, and sports. He envisions the policy as a cornerstone for strengthening education over the next 25 years.
The new education policy will also be part of the Telangana Rising Vision Document-2047, set to be released on December 9 this year.
